10 hot smartphones that have just got a 'price cut'

The Indian market is flooded with new smartphones. While we witness new launches every other week, existing smartphones also undergo price correction. At times prices are slashed by device makers and distributors while at other times e-commerce websites pass on discounts to their customers.


We take a look at ten smartphones that recently got a price cut to help you make an informed buying decision.

Samsung Galaxy S5

Just a month after its launch, Samsung's flagship phone Galaxy S5 is available online at an average price of Rs 40,000. This mean a price cut of over Rs 10,000 on its official launch price.

Launched at Rs 51,500, the phone boasts of features like a heart rate sensor, 4K video recording and a finger print scanner. It's also water and dust resistant. Galaxy S5 is powered by an Exynos octa-core processor and 3GB RAM, and features a 16MP rear camera.

Lenovo Vibe X

Lenovo has reduced the price of its Vibe X smartphone from Rs 25,999 to Rs 22,999. Lenovo Vibe X was launched in the Indian market in December. It sports a 5-inch 1080p Gorilla Glass 3 display.

It's powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek 6589T processor, 2GB RAM and currently runs Android 2.2 Jelly Bean. Lenovo has started rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat update for the phone.

Nokia Lumia 1020

Nokia Lumia 1020, the smartphone with a 41MP rear camera, is presently available online at Rs 35,500. The phone was officialy launched at a price of Rs 49,999.

Lumia 1020 sports a 4.5-inch (960 x 1280p) display, and comes with Windows Phone 8 operating system, 32GB internal storage, 2GB RAM, Xenon as well as LED flash and a 2,000mAh battery. It features a 1.2MP front-facing camera.

Nokia X

Nokia's first Android powered, dual-sim smartphone is available online at a price as low as Rs 6,500. It was launched at Rs 8,599.

Nokia X sports a 4-inch WVGA LCD display (480 X 800p, 233ppi). The dual-sim phone is powered by a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 512MB RAM. The phone runs a highly customized version of Android (based on Android 4.1.2) that has been stripped of Google services and apps including the Play Store.

Sony Xperia Z1

Sony's second flagship phone for 2013, the Xperia Z1 is available online at a price of Rs 35,700. The phone was launched at Rs 44,990.

It features a 5-inch full-HD LCD display. The water and dust-resistant phone is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core processor and 2GB RAM, the phone sports a 20.7MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing camera. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Sony's premium phablet, Xperia Z Ultra is amongst the thinnest smartphones in the world. It was launched at a price of Rs 46,990, but is now available for Rs 33,999.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra sports a 6.4-inch full-HD Triluminos display. The water and dust-resistant phone is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core processor and 2GB RAM. It sports an 8MP rear camera (no LED flash) and a 2MP front-facing camera.

HTC One Dual Sim

HTC One dual-sim is a variant of HTC's premium flagship phone for 2013, HTC One. It was launched at a price of Rs 53,590 but you can buy the phone for as low as Rs 34,999.

HTC One dual-sim features a 4.7-inch full-HD display. Powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core processor, and 2GB of RAM, the phone comes with 32GB internal storage expandable via microSD card and runs Android 4.4 KitKat.

BlackBerry Z30

BlackBerry Z30, the company's 5-inch BlackBerry 10 smartphone was launched at Rs Rs 39,990. It got an official price cut in March and was available for Rs 34,990. It can be purchased at a price as low as Rs 33,734 on e-commerce websites.

BlackBerry Z30 runs BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.2.1 and can run Android apps. It features a 1.7GHz dual-core processor with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and an expandable memory card slot that supports up to 64GB of additional storage.

LG G2

LG's flagship smartphone for 2013, LG G2 is one of the most well rounded smartphones when it comes to features and offers a great battery backup. The phone was launched at Rs 41,500 but can now be acquired at a price of Rs 30,999 (16GB).

LG G2 sports a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080x1920) display and is powered by Qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.26GHz and 2GB of RAM. It comes in 16GB and 32GB storage variants. The phone runs Android 4.4 KitKat.

Oppo N1

Chinese smartphone maker Oppo launched N1, its flagship smartphone, earlier this year at Rs 39,999. While the phone is not widely available online, you can now buy it at Rs 37,990.

Oppo N1 sports a large 5.9-inch full-HD IPS display. Powered by a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor and 2GB RAM, the smartphone runs a highly customised version of Android 4.2 (Color ROM). It sports a 13MP camera placed on a rotating swivel capable of rotating 206 degree with a dual-LED flash.
